How to play
- Look through the photos and the details. The street address stays hidden until the reveal.
- Set your guess with the slider, the plus and minus buttons, or type it in.
- Lock it in. A For Lease or For Sale sign drops onto the photo.
- Tap the sign to flip it and see the asking price.
- After five homes you get your score, plus a recap with a link to each home.
How scoring works
Each home is worth up to 100 points. Land within 2% of the asking price for all 100. Past that, you lose 2 points for every 1% you're off, and 50% off or more scores zero. A perfect game is 500.
| How far off | Points |
|---|---|
| Within 2% | 100 |
| 5% off | 90 |
| 10% off | 80 |
| 25% off | 50 |
| 50% off or more | 0 |
Why asking prices, never sold prices
Ontario's advertising rules say a home's sale or lease price can't be published without the written consent of both sides. So the game uses what sellers and landlords are asking right now, on homes that are still on the market.
Questions people ask
Yes. Every home in the game is an active listing with Big City Realty Inc., Brokerage, the brokerage I work with, loaded live when you play. The prices are the asking prices on those listings, and the recap at the end links to each home.
In Ontario, the price a home sells or leases for can't be published without the written consent of both sides. Asking prices are public, so that's what you're guessing: what the seller or landlord is asking right now.
Today's five are the same for everyone and change at midnight, Toronto time. Practice rounds pick a fresh random set each time you play. A home drops out of the game as soon as it comes off the market.
Anything over 350 out of 500 means you know your stuff. Over 450 and you could price homes for a living. A perfect 500 means every guess landed within 2% of the asking price.
Yes. It's built for phones first: swipe through the photos, slide or type your guess, then tap the sign. It works with a keyboard and a screen reader too.
